Conclusion?
I would say that the Cuisinart CBK-200 2-Pound Convection Automatic Bread Maker is a great bread machine, and it actually does have a pause option if you read the manual carefully. Obviously you have to come back to it to add fruit and nuts if you like, and remove the paddle to avoid that big hole in the bread. So what’s the fuss about it not being fully automatic if it produces really good bread? Plus, it only costs around $100, which is a great buy. Recommended!

Cuisinart CBK-100 Programmable Breadmaker

Apparently it is difficult to buy ready-made gluten-free bread that is tasty, so a bread machine is the way to go. Cuisinart CBK-100 makes such tasty gluten-free bread that here are what people have to say:

“The gluten free cycle is perfect. It bakes the best gluten free bread we have ever had. We have used Gluten free pantry Sandwich bread mix and also Bob’s Red Mill gluten free multigrain mix. WOW! THe bread is so good that I even like it. This bread is light and the crust is perfect. It even is easier to slice. If you are looking for a bread maker that turns out excelent gluten free bread this is the one to buy.” – J. Durham

“I use Gluten free pantry everyday bread mix and it has been delicious- the only problem i have encountered is the liquids must be lukewarm- not hot and not cold in order for the bread to rise properly.” – MegAtNight

This bread maker beeps loudly for you to remove the paddle (so that it doesn’t leave a hole in the bread), and again when the bread is done. This can be a drawback for anyone who wants to use the time delay to bake bread at night.

The recipes that come with the machine is nice for some users but doesn’t include gluten-free recipes. There are voices on the non-existing manual but it appears that there are instructions on the Amazon page and probably on the Cuisinart website as well.

Well, things can’t be perfect, and Cuisinart CBK-100 Programmable Breadmaker only costs $90, which is a good bargain for those who crave some delicious gluten-free bread.

Note that it has 110 pre-programmed settings? You can also customize your own program to get softer and whiter bread if you like that, or you can go with the recipes for french bread, cinnamon raisin bread, or honey banana whole wheat bread.

There is a dispenser for seeds and I think that is convenient for people who don’t like to hang around and wait for the beep like me.

One drawback is that the Breadman TR2200C Ultimate Bread Machine only has a single dough hook if compared to the Breadman Plus dual dough hooks. If you are used to the mixing quality of dual dough hooks you may less pleased with this one.

It’s not entirely quiet either, but it only makes noise while mixing dough and that is only for a few minutes.

The Breadman TR2200C Ultimate Bread Machine might not be a money-saving option for you if you only bake the same white bread every day. There are less fancy models which do the job nicely that will be kinder on the bank account.

So in one conclusion, this is a great bread machine I would recommend to people who like to bake all kinds of bread and try out new recipes all the time.

Breadman TR520 Programmable Bread Maker

At only $50, this bread machine is good for the price. It has the Fast Bake option, perfect for those who never bothered to make homemade bread because it simply takes far too long. Now you just put in the ingredients, press a button, and get fresh bread in an hour!

But if you are a perfectionist, maybe it’s a good idea to pause the machine when the dough is punched down and remove the paddle, so that it doesn’t make a big hole in your baked bread later on.

The Breadman TR520 is not as quiet as most, especially during kneading because that step uses quite a bit of energy, but one reviewer suggests scraping the sides of the pan and adding a little extra water during kneading to eliminate that problem.

It walks on the countertop when kneading too, so you might want to place it real deep in so that it doesn’t fall off.

The Breadman TR520 only has pre-programmed cycles, no custom options, so not good for the real experienced bakers who want to try out their own modes. I recommend this for beginners, and it is good enough for many different recipes.

The West Bend 41300 Hi-Rise is that bread machine. It is not the high end Zojirushi, nor is it a popular Breadman, but it produces tasty horizontal loaves and a great many baking options at an affordable price, and that’s what is important.

It is also simple to use – just measure the ingredients into the pan, press button and go do other stuff while it bakes the bread for you. The dual blades kneads ever so well, the dough rises beautifully for light and fluffy bread, and it beeps when it’s time to add fruits and nuts.

Basically all bread machines need you to add in fruits and nuts later on, except for the really high end ones that have a seed dispenser.

Despite the price, this bread machine is made with quality and doesn’t jitter or walk on the countertop while it kneads, but remember to place it on a firm and solid surface. The dough doesn’t stick on the sides as well, making it a breeze to clean.

A tip for the new user: break in your West Bend 41300 Hi-Rise by running the bake cycle once before you bake any bread. This is to remove any stink from the new machine.

I’ve written some tips in my previous post – Bread Machine Tips, but here are more tips to share, and I’ll write some more when I get the time.

Tip #1
You can let your bread machine do all the work for you, and get a tasty loaf of bread; or you can use the dough cycle. Using the dough cycle means that you place the ingredients in the machine, then let it mix and knead the dough for you. After the first rise, you can take it out and form it into any shape you want, then let it sit and rise for the second time, and finally it goes into the oven for baking.

This is how you do pizza crusts, croissants, dinner rolls, baguettes and more.

Tip #2
If you hate getting a big hole in your perfect loaf every time when pulling out the paddle, pause the machine and remove the paddle when the dough has risen for the last time. This might not be easy to do with some bread machines, or you might think it’s not really worth the effort.

Tip #3
Make sure your ingredients are in room temperature before you put them into the bread machine. Although some bread machines warm the ingredients before doing any mixing, it’s better if you microwave the refrigerated milk to the right temperature first. Anything from the refrigerator like cheese, yeast, eggs or buttermilk should sit at room temperature for a period of time before adding them.

Tip #4
When placing salt and yeast into the bread machine, take care not to let the two sit together. Salt will inhibit the rising action if placed together with yeast, resulting in a less light and fluffy bread. I find that it is better to add the salt after the liquid and before the flour, and the yeast in a small well in the flour.

If you’re really needing that loaf of bread, there’s a quick cycle that gives you bread in 2 hours. This model doesn’t have the full size bread machine options for customized cycles though.

It is very quiet so you can leave it to work overnight with the delay setting, and wake up to fresh bread in the morning.

And here’s what a reviewer has to say about the beeper:
“The beeper that indicates when to add fruit/nuts still can’t be turned off. On the positive side, though, the beeper only beeps about five times on the mini, which is a huge improvement over the 15-beep cycle on the full-size Zo (which always kept me from using the full-size Zo overnight)” – Edward Barnett.

For a first timer, the Zojirushi BB-HAC10WZ Home Bakery Bread Baker is no feat. It’s very easy to use and I would recommend it to beginners.

You can program this bread maker for how long it takes each step so that the gluten-free loaf turns out perfect. Of course, you can also make whole wheat bread, meatloaf, jam, cake, cinnamon rolls or bread sticks! Just use one of the 10 pre-programmed cycles.

The best thing about having a bread machine that has delay timer is that you can have fresh bread for breakfast or tea every day.

“Besides not heating up a big oven, what I like best is being able to put all the ingredients into the machine and have 4 hours to do other things without having to go through the mixing/kneading process and to stop to punch dough down and form loaves, etc. It’s not that those things are hard to do, but this sure feels like a lot of ‘free time’ with a great result.” – Kate, at Amazon.

The ultimate question, should you buy? Well, I think Zojirushi BB-CEC20 is a good buy, but maybe you should also check out the BBCCX-20 review before making a decision.

Breadman TR875 Breadmaker, 2 LB

What’s good about this machine is that it is easy to use, even for a beginner baker. If you have the time to try out new recipes other than white bread, get some baking recipe books to try them out on this machine.

I use the dough cycle a lot and from that I’ve made pizza dough, English muffins (which my kids JUST love), pretzels, dinner rolls, cinnamon rolls the list goes on. Don’t worry if the bread machine does nothing at first in the long cycle. It has a timed delay to let the flour soak for a while before kneading to make better dough. I saw that many users were confused at first and thought they got a broken unit!

These buyers collectively claimed that they received a unit that is scratched/dented/obviously refurbished and they returned it.

For $106 you don’t get a better bread machine than this, so it depends whether you want to risk it with Breadman TR875 Breadmaker.
